Hey ya'll!  Happy Fitness Friday!  I am on a plane right now leaving Colorado heading to New York and then Miami & ya'll know I just got back from Paris. Wowzer. This is a crucial time for me to stay loyal to my Health plan. Its been a little almost a year since I lost around 20 lbs.  and I am determined to stay on the healthy path that I am on. SO I have 3 tips that I want to share with you for staying fit while you travel Plus a Tone it up Hotel room workout. These tips are things that I am learning along the way and have been helping me stay on course. #1 Pack healthy foods for your flight :  There was a time that I would always order wine on the flight so I could sleep. Well those days are long over. No wine for me on the flight I have awesome reading material and healthy snacks to ensure I don't eat any sugary snacks on the plane or depart the plane starving and desperate.  Here are a few snacks that I have been brining on the plane. Luna bars, Peanut butter, humus, bananas , rice crackers. So with the peanut butter the jar has to be unopened or you can only bring the 3 ounces, out you can bring several containers of 3 ounces, same with the humus. Also drink a ton of water on the plane.  Flying is dehydrating and can make you feel tired and hungry. So what if you have to get up to go potty several times its good to move your legs:) #2 Pack appropriate workout gear : Before flying to Colorado I read it was 92 degrees. I was like Okay its gonna be HOT! I did not pack a sweat shirt for any warn workout gear for my trip. Dang it. It was freezing on my early morning jogs so I ended up buying a sweatshirt.  The weather could have easily made me want to skip my cardio so I encourage you to be prepared for cold mornings wherever you are going.  Also The booty band I just ordered from amazon takes up no room in my bag and is awesome for hotel room workouts:) Here is a great hotel room workout from Tone it up!   #3 Book a hotel with a gym or heated pool If you are anything like me and you're traveling for work from city to city you might just go on priceless.com and book a room a few hours before hand because you never know where you are gonna be.  For instance last night I finished my shoot up in  Estes Park about 2 hours from Denver. My flight was early leaving for NYC. I could have stayed in Estes Park or Denver.  I opted for Denver. My priority in booing the hotel was that there was a gym.  I knew I had to wake up super early to get a workout in before heading to the airport. Yes the hotel was a little expensive but when you think about it, the price of 3 glasses of wine would make the difference. I skipping the wine these days and splurging on the gym amenities! Ha! And as always I just want to add that working out should be a mind , body, soul experience. We work out because it makes us feel good and personally I perform better at life. It's not all about a certain weight or a certain look. It's all about a certain feeling and relationship you have with yourself. Stay Inspired! Jana (more…)

3 tips for a flat stomach:
  • Drink Water – Staying hydrated is not only important for your mental and physical performance, it’s also a great way to avoid overeating. We often confuse dehydration for hunger pangs. So, the next time you feel like snacking have a tall glass of water first, then see if you’re still hungry in 30 minutes. Don’t like the taste of plain water, add some freshly squeezed lemon. Lemon is rich in Vitamin C and has been known to reduce bloating by acting as a mild, natural diuretic.
  • Up the Fiber Intake – Increasing your daily amount of fiber will help you flatten your belly without feeling like you’re starving yourself. Fiber rich fruits and veggies help you feel full without the extra calories.
  • Get your dairy fix Yogurt – Yogurt is chalk full of healthy bacteria that will help keep your digestive system healthy. Healthier digestive tract equals a happier and flatter belly. Dairy free? No problem. There are many delicious coconut, almond or soy based alternatives. You can find them at your local health foods grocery store

One of the ways I’m able to get through my busy days is by taking shots. No, not those kind of shots. Wellness shots. I first discovered them when I stopped by my local juice place, Open Source Organics and tried a flight of 5 wellness shots, each specifically crafted to help maintain blood sugar levels, aid in digestion, help fight inflammation and keep those nasty colds away. Let’s just say it was love at first flight. Unfortunately I don’t always have time to drop by open source every morning for my shots, so here is the 4-ingredient recipe for my go to morning shot, similar to the enliven shot (link to enliven shot): 2-tbsp organic apple cider vinegar 1-tsp cinnamon 1-tbsp raw honey Juice from half a lemon The benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar are endless but one of the main benefits is improved digestion. Taking a shot 15 minutes before you eat it will stimulate digestive juices for a better breakdown of your food. Cinnamon is a good source of calcium and fiber, honey helps boost metabolism, and lemon is a great immunity booster. Taking this shot first thing in the morning to feel great the rest of the day. Happy Fitness Friday y'all! Today I want to chat about vitamin B12 injections! I am no stranger to these suckers. When I was growing up in Alabama my momma would go to this man who had bread beautiful horses and she would buy big bottles liquid vitamin B12 and the shampoo and conditioner he used for his horses ( Mane n Tail) and she would inject me and my sister in the butt with B12 . Plus we used the shampoo and conditioner, I recently saw it in Urban Outfitters and thought wow my mom is pretty smart. Anyway no joke my mom and sister would literally chase me around the house and hold me down b/c I was so scared of the needle. I would get my courage up and then right before she poked me I would take off running! My southern momma would preach about how it was gonna give me and my sister beautiful hair skin and nails and how I was gonna thank her one day. Well thanks Mom! B12 is known to help strengthen your nails, hair, increase energy and some say lose weight.  Here is my opinion on it: First find out if you need it. I had a spectrum cell test done last year, its a very detailed blood test, and I came back good in everything except b12.  I am also anemic but the spectrum test does not test for iron fyi.  That being said I love this article from Shape magazine talking about b12 I think this is a great read before you try the injections.  If you do in fact find out that you are one of the many people who is running low on this really valuable vitamin then don't be scared. I doesn't hurt and you are putting something great in your body. Every doctor visit I get a shot and it usually cost 25.00 I just purchased 10 b12 shots from Cederhouse in Hollywood for 79.00 that was an awesome deal! Personally I want to get to know the person who is seeing my rear end and injection me with a needle so I intend to keep going back to my girl at even when it goes back to regular price. I am consistent and get the b12 shots one a week in the summer because wedding season is in full swing and about one every 2 weeks during the rest of the year.  I have tried the B Skinny before but I did not feel any difference.  My next venture is trying the IV drip. Happy Fitness Friday y'all! Lowd have mercy it has been busy and I am proud to say I have been keeping my workout & nutrition on track.  I made a commitment to myself last April that I was going to make time to get back to my workouts because its something I truly love and it make me feel proud of myself.  Someone asked me recently to write about how I find balance in my life.  I actually just got a little teary eyed as I wrote that.  The truth is I don't have balance in my life. I am working toward having balance in my life.   But what does that even mean? The definition of balance is "a condition in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions." Wow that sounds lovely.  If I ever do achieve that I will def take notes and share.  As for right now, well, its about transformation for me. The definition of a spiritual transformation is  " A change in the meaning system that a person holds as a basis for self-definition, the interpretation of life, and overarching purposes and ultimate concerns" I heard this awesome pod cast explain transformation as (more…)

Happy Fitness Friday yall! Wowzer its been a busy week and I have been getting up so early to get my workouts in. I looked at Bugsy yesterday , my sweet dog, and realized we had spent barely anytime together this week. So this morning we both woke up at the crack of dawn and went to the dog park. He got to run around while I did laps around the park and then did my leg exercises and abb work. I could not imagine how hard it must be to fit everything in when you have a kid or 2 props to all of those mom's out there who make it happen! I think Bugsy is giving me practice for when I do have a baby:) I'm off to shoot a wedding now. I hope you have a fabulous fitness friday and find a way to fit it all in! Fitness Friday a little secret to make your waist look smaller

Happy fitness Friday!! Recently I have been admiring the shape of a woman. Right, so it doesn't matter if your tall or short or thick or thin its all about shape in the end. My body type is athletic and my waist is small from the side but it doesn't really curve in from the front. So I have been working on my shoulders a more. The bigger your shoulders are the smaller your waist looks! Plus I have not been doing crunching that build my side abdominal just the center ones. I would prefer my waist go in rather than out. It's really important I think when we are taking classes to modify when we need to. I feel like I am gonna get called out and totally embarrassed in class when I am supposed to be doing bicycles and instead I and doing regular crunches but in the end its my class I am there to achieve the goals I want. So I encourage you to look at your own body and get detailed with how you want it to look. Even though we are not our bodies. We are our  heart and souls. We work out to be happier people who feel good about ourselves and to live at our fullest potential. Hey ya'll happy Fitness Firday! Real quick before I list the tips I finally have a newsletter :) sign up here to be the first to receive big news like workshops and fitness tips. My first email has a quick video on how to look your best in a photo. Its a good one. So back to 5 tips on staying motivated to workout. ( My first Fitness Youtube video here ) #1. Plan your workouts Are you a morning person or a night person? Personally I am a morning person. I know that I have to sign up for my class or plan exactly what tome I am gonna head to the gym in the MORNING or chances of mw working out are slim. #2. Positive Thinking What are you thinking about when you workout? Chances are if you are thinking about how much you hate it then your not gonna wann jump out of bed the morning and do it. Control your thinking push eject to those negative thoughts and have an attitude of gratitude for your body and everything it does for you. Even if you start by just focusing on your breathe. #3 Update your workout attire Look cute when you workout. I know this sounds a little silly but try it. But a little more effort into what you wear to workout and I bet it will help keep you a little more excited about getting up and going to the gym. (more…)
