Where to Stay In Santorini

As I was planning my trip to Santorini I found I was lost on where to  stay in Santorini. So I want to take this opportunity to help you out if you are feeling a little lost as you plan your trip.

There are basically 3 sections of Santorini you should choose from.

Oai, Imerovigli, and Thira.

Oai is the most expensive, upscale, and famous village to stay in Santorini.  It is perched on the north tip of the Island and the most popular place to watch the iconic sunset in Santorini.  Two Amazing Hotels to stay are Canaves Hotel here  & Andronis Hotel here.  Oai is the only village in Santorini where Drone’s are not allowed.

This is huge and a big reason many stars stay in Oai.

Imerovigli is where Dave and I stayed. Its situated in the north of Santorini, only 2 miles away from the capital of Fira. The name of Imerovigli comes from the word vigla which means view spot. The position of the village provides a clear view of the caldera.  In front of Imerovigli lies an enormous rock called Scaros. On top of it is a castle that was built during the 13th century but it was abandoned in the early 1800s. This was mine and Dave’s favorite spot to watch the sunset in Santorini. We hiked up the rock and watched the most beautiful sunsets all alone. I will always treasure these memories. Two hotels we recommend in Imerovigli are Grace here and The Alexander Villas here.

Thira or Fira ( Same Thing) is found on the west coast of the island, on the caldera cliffs opposite the volcano. Modern day Fira is the cultural and commercial center of the Santorini. Big on the tourist industry, perhaps more so than other areas on the island.

Apart from the museums & galleries, it has the island’s largest shopping center and the biggest choice of dining out and entertainment. Actually, I did find a place to get my spray tan in Fira so I was thankful for that. dave and I would not recommend staying in Fira:(  But if you love Fira and can suggest a few places to stay please leave them in the comments:)

My next post on Santorini will be more on what to pack. In the meantime check out my last post on Santorini Fashion  You can also get a really good idea about what to wear by watching our Vlog Here .

Thanks so much for reading and I hope I helped give you an idea about where to stay in Santorini.

Stay Inspired!
