Happy Fitness Friday y’all! To do all of the things we want to do in this life we need energy and a lot of it:) while I don’t support the idea that busy = success. I do recognize that there is no getting around the fact that in our society we have allot going on. If you find yourself reaching for that second coffee in the afternoon , or craving sugar for more energy Here are a few tips that will help you balance your blood sugar so you can have more natural energy for the quality of your life.

#1. Eat every 2-3 hoursEating small portions of food every 2-3 hours to avoid spikes and dips in your blood sugar. When your blood sugar dips that is when you look for that quick fix. Those are temporary solutions. Go for the real fix. A few examples of healthy snacks :

  • Nuts
  • Olives
  • Yogurt
  • Fresh fruit
  • Legumes

#2 Rest and excercise

The right combination of rest and excursus will change your life and def bring up your energy. There is no pill on the planet that releases the same amount of natural endorphins as excercise. Being active gives you more energy. Take a walk on your lunch break, skip happy hour and go for a jog with your friends, try that new spin class, and then REST. Lay down. Forget the Fear of missing out syndrome. Your body needs rest to heal itself. When we sleep our bodies are still busy doing all of the things it has to do to keep us going. I do have trouble sleeping sometimes because my mind is going 90 to nothing. So I listen to a guided meditation, take an epson salt bath, put an eye mask on and make the room as dark as possible. Also no TV or computer in the room helps so much!

Don’t drink wine to help you fall asleep. I know it works or at least we think it does. Believe me, I have def had a glass of wine to help me sleep. Traveling was my weakness I would be on a different time zone and reaching for that glass of red to help me sleep. Now that I have done my research I know that the sugar in the wine actually never lets my body rest. It gets my heart rate up until its done pressing the sugar. So instead of using the night to heal and prepare for the next day my body has to work overtime to press the wine. I’m not asking you to never drink I’m just letting you know when you are feeling low energy and want to get your self back on track choose not to drink. It’s worth it.

#4 DRINK WATER

When you find yourself saying ” I’m in a bad mood today” Or” I’m just so tired” you should immediately ask yourself how much water you have drunk today. Did you know dehydration can cause all sorts of things in our bodies like mood swings, fatigue, hunger, Its kinda nuts. Also if you are drinking wine or coffee drink even more water.

Having more energy to do the things you love leads to a happier life. If you find yourself not living in the moment when you are playing with your kids or dreading waking up every morning you should reconsider your diet, excercise, sleeping habits, and overall health. You have the power to change things in your life for the better one day at a time!

Stay Inspired!

  1. Jana, I just love all these fitness tips from you. I have MS and struggle with a lot of things. When I read your posts I feel energized, inspired, and motivated. Since following your fitness Friday posts I’ve lost 15 pounds and I exercise 6 days a week. Thank you so very much for helping me. You are a God send. Have an awesome weekend.

  2. Somehow browsing on Instagram, maybe 3 or 4 accounts later, I came across your blog.. lol (funny how you can get lost in the world of Instagram) and your photos caught my eye. They are breathtaking! My dad is a photographer as well, so I love seeing other peoples work from all over. But I noticed you posted a blog on having more energy, and I wanted to read it because I can use it! You’re an inspiration, and have some really good advice. I usually love excising outdoors, running/hiking/swimming, but AZ weather is killer right now & I dread the gym… but your tips on having energy will motivate me more to get out of the house and head to gym. You’re awesome, love your work, and stay beautiful! =] <3
