Fitness Friday: Inner Strength

On this Fitness Friday I want to chat about inner strength.  Inner strength is “Resilience” it is the ability to cope with stressful situations that rock out boats.  The latest attacks in Paris and then this week the two shootings in the US have been such confusing and heart breaking news. I know that this news affects us all in unique ways and we have our own reactions to such scary stories. There is a part of me that wants to just accept the fact that this world is changing and it’s not going to get better. I have thoughts that I don’t want to have children because I was be terrified to send the to school. There is a feeling of defeat.  BUT it is in the toughest times that we must build our inner strength. We have to unite not divide. Love not hate. Believe not fear.  The question is how?  I was thinking about this allot last night and here is what I came up with.

Pray/ Meditate : When I am at a loss of words I say ” Holly Spirit Guide Me Now” I learned this from Dr. Wayne Dyer.  This affirmation is one of surrender. Ask for guidance and then listen. In order to listen we have to turn off our inner chatter.

Positive thinking:  Different from affirmations positive thinking is a daily practice from the time we wake up until the time we fall asleep. When we think thoughts of lack and fear we are inviting more of that into out lives. When we think thoughts of greatness we will bring more of that into our lives.   When the negative thinking starts push eject and replace that thought with a positive uplifting thought.

Feeling Strong : Building outer strength is a great way to build inner strength. Lifting weights, doing planks, yoga, muscle-building workouts are a great way to feel strong.  There is power in resistance. Resistance training in the gym and resistance training in life. When you resist that 2nd piece of chocolate cake or that negative thought YOU BECOME STRONGER.

Activities: We need to do something that makes us feel good. I know it feels good to get all of our work done and to have our to-do list done before we end our day but that cannot be it. We have to do something that does not pertain to work that makes us feel good. A walk in nature, a dance class, watch the sunset. Something that will remind us of the beauty in this world.

I hope you all have a beautiful, healthy, positive weekend.

Stay Inspired!
